  Departed_Canadian,

To answer your question is YES I know at least one person who did not find a job in his field coming from MIT.

In fact this person tried to move to Canada but because of a big mess up with a visa issue he did not get there but because he had some MIT experience he did find a job in USA but NOT in his field.

It comes to a topic we discussed earlier. It is all about personal experience and little luck. What USA can offer you is what Canada can offer me.

I am very eager to land in Canada and see how long I will take to find a job. I am aware of the difficulties and am fully prepared for it. Just like to hear people comments about it, that is why I started the topic.

I understand that; sorry to always disappoint you, but that is the fact I faced there.

Exception is everywhere, so I buy your story of that MIT guy. Though still there are some differences, most probably he wasn´t a US citizen/GC holder (which makes a huge difference in US job finding). I was a full Canadian citizen, not alone, with many others in my class, most of them are still filling gas after 2 years, few days ago I showed Richard a guy´s resume with Canadian MS driving cab for the last 5 years.

Forget about MIT or Cornell, I was graduated from a school in the US with a ranking near 100, with that degree & foreign student status I got 3 offers at that time. Everybody knows Jobs litarally run after the graduates from the MIT/Harvard/Berkley..like schools.

USA is not a bed of rose either, I have to prove myelf everyday. Beauty of USA is it at least gives chance to prove yourself. I also went school there, had to work hard to able myself to have a US degree to find a job. That was all about it. Then I didn´t have to look back there. To me, that is the struggle I deserve. Not any artifical struggle. Yes, there immigration is extremely hard, which I like it after having the Canadian experience.

Without any debate, can anyone simply help me to solve a simple equation? Every year 60/70 thousands educated professionals come to Canada. How many new jobs Canada produce every year? How can this 2 sides be equated? Do the qualifications..good english..licence issues eally matter?

I know you want to hear something positive, but sorry again...I should´ve kept my wards..silence.

Only hope you would find your life easier there.

Departed_Canadian, you´re right. Canada does not need many immigrants with degrees except for those in nursing, physiotherapy etc. to look after an aging population. What Canada needs are tradespeople.

CBV, There is a saying in India... "You should die to see God!" Its a metaphore for which I have great respect.

You will not know what you will get until you go to Canada. I respect your eagerness to immigrate and face challenges. But keep in mind that D_C has been there and experienced it all.

It scares me when you say "What USA can offer you is what Canada can offer me"... How sure are you about it when you havent even visited Canada? I would suggest you to slow down a little. Too much expectations may give you too much disappointment.

D_C is not wrong but I would not generalize his situation to be true to everyone.

However, I wish you luck and hope you will get better than what you expect from Canada. Good luck!

Almost Perfect!!
(in reply to: "No Canadian experience, no work" -2)
What almost Perfect just said I was always trying to say. Thanks for the correct phrases. All should realize what to expect and what not to.

When I decided to move to Canada from the US, all of my friends/relatives were surprized, that time also I heard some horror stories about the poor job situation. But, I didn´t care those very much because of the same rationale CBV333 has now. Immigrants sometimes exagerrate...always nagging, but by the book Canada is the best country to live..so and so gave me the courage. Morever, not a single time the probability of being unemployed with US degree/work experiecne came to my mind. My expectation was I would at least get a job, salary would be lower than US, that´s OK. In lieu of that, I would get a real democratic, socialistic, crime free country with a simple high quality life.

From my Canada experience, I learned a valuable lesson, not to rely just on some statistics or UN report blindly for immigration. Only way to assess by staying there for some time.

I never can say my experience is 100% warranted, but can say for sure that is very much possible. To me, if you don´t have any influencial personal link there, professional job finding without any Canadian experience is nothing much different than playing lotto.

I understand some guys don´t have any hope for the US GC, so for them it is worthy to try luck in Canada as a good alternative. However, after Canada experience, I did a little research on my own about immigration, and based on that if I need to leave US for any reason, I would go to Australia. There at least job is still available for the qualified ones.

Hi Departed_Canadian and Almost_Perfect,

Thanks a lot for your imput and your valuable comments, I agree with both of you and it is good to know some people have real common sense and make interesting comment.

To Departed_Canadian: to follow up the story of the MIT guy yes you are right he was not US citizen neither did he have a Green card and YES as you said it makes a huge deal of difference. Just yesterday my office mate (a turkish student) went to a career fair and he returned so disappointed, he said "I am a foreigner, nobody wants to employ me" .... this sentence still ringing in my head, as this is overall my experience in US, I guess I am in the wrong field too.

To Almost Perfect!!: thanks for the quote I really like it. My statement about "what Canada can offer me" is not related to job so don´t worry about it, it is related to personal reasons which in our case will make our life easier, no matter what.
I would like to add that I visited Canada many many times, so I know exactly what to expect. I even went to a job interview in Alberta .... but the job was given to a Canadian citizen eventually :(

But yes you expressed in words exactly how it feels. It is really when I will be in Canada that I will get answers to my questions ... and as D_C said it is a bit of luck too. In fact I may get a temporary job in London though I have to wait until April to find out.

Anyway thanks for your input, I guess I should not start the topic of job anymore as we always end up repeating the same things though it was interesting.

thanks again for your input!

CBV not withstanding all this talk, I seriously advise you to pack your shyt and move on up here and try your luck. I also advise you to keep trying your luck, without relent, for at least one full year or two if necessary before drawing conclusions. What are you waiting for? An invite from Sharon? Well don´t expect that two faced wench to be appreciative of your 3rd world arse wanting to settle in her neighbourhood.

CoolC, what exactly is your problem? My neighbourhood is full of 3rd world arses. The love of my life is a 3rd world arse that has more class, culture and intelligence in his baby finger than you have in your entire body.

As for the first part of your advice, I could not agree with you more.
