Subject: dependent child for Roy and everyone else
Hello roy i am being sponsored as a dependent child my file has been approved from Mississauga and now its in the Local embassy in Islamabad they asked for additional documents in which one of the documents i sent proof of education which they asked for . My question is , is it important for college or university u go to to be accredited by govt in that country because in Pakistan we mostly have private colleges and the ones that are accredited are rare and the ones which are very popular. Will this pose a problem i sent the same educational documents to misssauga they didnt have a problem with it since htey approved it. But i really am a student their still am and was as i stated. Because i heard in forums that university or college has to be accredited by govt if its not can that be a reason for refusal? please Explain thank you and does the Accredited institution has to be also present at the time u send the sponsorship application. in the CIC website it says nothing about univeristy being accredited by govt however in some few websites it does say it i am confused please help thank you.

I would suggest that you send the same documents as you sent to Missisaga and probably right a letter explaining what you just wrote in your question.

Just send the documents and follow the general procedure. If the CIC have problems, they will let you know. Dont give extra & unnecessary information to anyone.

EVEN THOUGH I ANSWER QUESTIONS HERE I DO HAVE A BUSINESS TO RUN AND MONEY TO EARN SO I CAN FEED MY FAMILY TOO!

WHEN YOU WANT THINGS TO GO PERFECT YOU HAVE AN OBLIGATION TO RESEARCH THINGS TOO. I GAVE YOU EVERYTHING YOU NEEDED AND ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS READ THE INDEX THEN SCROLL DOWN TO OP2 SECTION 5.13

THE IMMIGRATION ACT AND REGULATIONS CHANGES ALL THE TIME AND SOME TIMES THINGS CHANGE DUE TO FEDERAL COURT DECISIONS AND I MIGHT NOT HAVE HEARD ABOUT THE DECISION BECAUSE I´M BUSY MOST DAYS. I WOULD HATE TO BE BLASTED HERE FOR GIVING OUT THE WRONG ADVICE, I HAVE A REPUTATION TO MAINTAIN.

THE SCHOOL HAS TO BE ACCREDITED QUOTE "evidence of the institution´s accreditation with the relevant authority",
Complete text below.

5.13. Who qualifies as a dependent child?
R2 and Section 6 in this chapter describe who qualifies as a dependent child.
In order to meet R2(b)(i) of the definition of ?dependent child?, a child must be under 22 years of
age and not a spouse or common-law partner on the date when the IMM 1344AE is received by
CPC-M, and not a spouse or common-law partner when the visa is issued, and when they arrive
in Canada.
OP 2 Processing Members of the Family Class
2006-11-14 16
Not a spouse or common-law partner means that the dependent child must not be married or
involved in a common-law relationship. A dependent child who is single, divorced, widowed, or
whose marriage has been annulled is not a spouse. Similarly, if the dependent child was involved
in a common-law relationship but that relationship no longer exists, they may be considered to
meet the definition.
R2(b)(ii) & (iii) describe children over the age of 22 who may be considered dependent children if
they are substantially dependent on their parents for financial support. This includes full-time
students enrolled in accredited post secondary institutions or children with a physical or mental
condition. In such cases, officers must ask for documentary evidence of full time attendance at
school, evidence of the institution´s accreditation with the relevant authority, evidence of the
physical or mental condition and evidence of financial dependency on parents.
For further information on dependent children over the age of 22, see:
? Assessment of a claim that a dependent child is a student, Section 14 below.

Hello Roy, I completely understand that, and do take responsibility for not being prepared. But on a brighter note i submitted the documents for education at an unrecognized institution which was private to mississauga, but at the same time i was transferred to a recognized instution the reason i did not include the recognized institution was because it was my first semester so i thought its better to provide my previous institution since i already had a transcript for it. But according to the reference u sent me it says the DEPENDENT CHILD HAS TO BE ENROLLED IN AN ACCREDITTED INSTITUTION AT TIME OF SUBMITTING APPLICATION TO CIC- MISSISAUGA. AND AT THE TIME i was enrolled in a recognized instituion. so now if Immigration asks me to provide further documents i will sent my proof of being enrolled in it.

Thanks alot everyone and Roy
