If you are over 21 - then to qualify as a dependent you have to be " A FULL TIME STUDENT AT A GOVERNMENT ACCREDITED UNVERSITY" Please note ´full time´ and ´accredited government university´no matter how long your process takes it has to be continued education . The moment you stop studying or take up a job you will cease to be a dependent. Please make sure that the studying you do at a institution is on the list by canadian government as accredited. About study visa - i don´t know -someone else´s experience may help.

As far as I know, Sarika is correct.

Just to add, after 21, you must be continuing as a full time student, with a break of study not more than 12 months.

Once you are applied for immigration, you may not be given any other type of Visa (student or tourist), upto the visa officer.

SARKIKA here in pakistan most of the colleges are private the exceptions which are accredited are the ones that are really poplular, as long as institution and educational institution. I think they have to take into consideration educational trends in a country too. I myself submitted to my application in missisauga with an institution that is not recognized even though at the time i sent application to Misssauga i ws doing my first semester in an recognized Govt instituion. Missiissauga approved my application it is in Islamabad pakistan now for further processing. The reason i didnt include new instituion in my sponsorsship application was because it was my first semester and i thought its better to send records of institution for which i already have grades for and transcripts

It has to be accredited - some small countries which do not have accredited universities are accepted as exceptions. Pakistan is not on that list of countries. Another strong point is financial dependence like show that your food, accomodation, expenses are all taken care by your mother - show proof. At the time of interview they will want proof that you are still a dependent that too have been a continous dependent,You still have time go and enroll yourself in accredited institution and the break can be explained like you were sick and took a break from studying ( give doctors cert). Please take this seriously as they are very firm.

You can still apply for a Tourist Visa whilst your application for PR is in process, that is in Canada but not the USA.

helo sir,
actually i got my visitor visa rejected this year....the reason given was purpose of visit...later on i found that my purpose of visit was not good enough to get me visa...now since i am in last year of my undergraduate studies and i have to continue education so i am very keen to do my postgraduation from canada itself so that if i get PR (which wil take 2-2.5 yrs or more to be processed)....it will be greatly helpful for me as well as my family....moreover i will not have to upgrade my degree as my postgraduation degree will be from canada itself....is i thinking in right way and can i get study visa????is dere any chances if i apply???
