Subject: Tution Fees
I wish to pursue a PhD program upon my arrival as a PR. I had following questions:

1) What is the tution fees for 9 credit hour semester (appox.)?

2) As a PR do you get discounted rate (as in in-state fees for the U.S)?

3) Do you qualify for grants or student loans as a PR?

4) Any other scholarships etc. which are avaliable to PRs?

Would appriciate if anyone already in a PhD program in Canada can answer these. I´m not really picky on a location; would prefer in the big 10 cities but that is not the criteria. Just a decent program.

Thanks for your input in advance.

I am not really sure how much does it cost, you will have to visit university websites and try to find out there. If you are new immigrant, they will probably give you a student loan. Not to worry about that. Is there a discount for PR? Well tuition is the same for PR and Canadian citizens, it is only more for those that are here on student visa.
All the best.

PhD in canada in good universities( like toronto, UBC,queens, alberta,I am not sure about mc gill) always comes with some sort of financial aid.Tution fees is less for PRs than international. So if they admit you it is mostly with financial aid in science, business and engineering. I am not sure about arts

Thanks for your reply. I plan to pursue a PhD in Information Technology or CS. What are resonably good universities in Canada for that stream of study?
