Subject: Processing Times For Medical Exam
  Hello,

My girlfriend is an American citizen that is attempting to apply for a work permit here in Vancouver, B.C. . She as gone through the entire process of obtaining job offer with a formal contract, securing proof of funds, obtaining a positive LMO, and conducting the full medical exam (blood, xray, and physical). Her job as a teacher requires a medical exam. Does anyone know how long it should take for the government to process the medical exam? We did it on July 21st, 2007 and the doctor said they sent it in on August. 2, 2007 so we are coming up on 7 weeks. Is this ridiculously long or should we expect to wait a lot longer? Is there anyone useful we can call? (CIC call centre doesn´t count!) They said they don´t do anything til it is considered late i.e. 3 months or longer. Should we bother to call a lawyer? We´ve even considered going to the local newspapers. Her job has already started and we are at the mercy of the government. HELP!!!

Did the doctor send the results by trackable mail? You should verify when Ottawa received it. If Canada Post was involved, it may take longer. So far your wait time is normal. Contacting a lawyer or newspaper will not help. Good luck.

WHY WOULD IT TAKE 12 DAYS TO SEND THE MEDICAL?

DIRECT YOUR CONCERN TO THE DMP. PUSH THE DMP THEN HE/SHE CAN PUSH THE CLERK WHO HAS TO ENTER IT INTO FOSS.

IF YOUR PARTNER WAS NOT A TEACHER I WOULD HAVE A DIFFERENT RESPONSE FOR YOU.

TRY TO BE POSITIVE.

I can give you a reason why it would take 12 days to send medicals.

In our case it was more than that because at the doctor´s office the copy machine was broken so they had to get it fixed and eventually order a new one so they can make a copy of the forms before sending them.

This is what happened to us, my guess is that there may be millions of reasons to send medicals late.

The exam did take place on a Saturday. Most labs aren´t open on the weekends, especially for routine labs such as these.
