Subject: Visitor visa for job interviews
  Hi all,
I would really really appreciate your help and advice on this:

I am an Indian citizen and completed my undergraduate degree form the University of Toronto in Canada last year. During campus interviews I got a job at a very well known US software company. They told me that the US work visa would take 2-3 months. So I went home to india for a short vacation.

The Company got back to me saying they had delayed the visa filing by mistake but were "working on a solution". It is now a year later.. and they have been stringing me along all this while by promising various solutions.

So now, I find myself in India having gone through a year and half of hell. Since I was an international student in Canada, after
graduation we get a 3 month window during which we can easily apply for and get jobs. So now that gone too.. I will be treated like an international applicant in Canada.

I want to return to Canada and take up a tech job - any tech\consulting job at this point.

If I try for a simple visitor visa... only mentioning that i am going to visit my uncle (who is in toronto) will it be rejected on the grounds that i dont have strong ties to india? or will it be ok.. since i have already spent 4 years in canada.. and didnt overstay my visa?

(My parents live in india, but I dont have a fulltime job here.. or any property and am a bachelor... but i did study in canada for 4 years.. and have an uncle in canada willing to assume responsibility for me)

What if I could have a few interview invitations from come canadian companies - does that increase my chance of getting a canadian vistor visa?

what is the best strategy? should I get a job in India first? thanks guys! I want to get my life on track gain.. your help is invaluable..

From what I hear from others, to get a visa for any country from India, YES somehow you have to lie or hide some of the truth.

Telling the truth never worked. At least in our family case. Nobody got visa to come and visit because we are all honest people. It is only the one who lied a little that got the visa. It seems to be standard in India.

In your case, if you don´t show strong ties to India and you say you will visit your uncle, after living there for 4 years, THEY WON"T BELIEVE YOU.

What you should do: get a paper showing a job offer or a current job is a good start. I don´t know your situation, perhaps you can show that you will get married soon and your wife has a good job in India that she won´t leave. Maybe you have some properties paper or some other family ties.

I am not saying you should lie ... what I am saying here is try to get some ties to India that you can show on some official documents. But don´t say you will visit your uncle, that won´t work.
