Subject: Effect of dding Spouse to my File
  Hi everyone,

I have applied to CIC at buffalo to have a PR. Recently, I am going to marry my girlfriend back home. I am just wondering whether it is a good idea to add this new status on my existing PR file or just wait ( not marry right now) until I get the PR. If I want to add, could anyone tell me your experiences or info about the effect of adding spouse ?

Thanks
Bas

if your status changes before you land/receive your PR, you MUST advise CIC. your wife will be added to your application.

If you wait to marry until after you land, you will begin sponsorship after you arrive in Canada. The length of process varies depending on her home country.

whatever you do...DO NOT marry and not advise CIC. It will put you in a position of misrepresentation and you will lose you PR.

Hi Sharron,
I don´t understand what you meant by " ....DO NOT marry and not advise CIC "

well, she means that if you´re gonna get married after you´ve submitted your application to CIC, then, you should inform them so they can make a change in your application, cuz, if you do get married and do not tell them, the processing of your wife-to-be´s landing/PR will be much longer, so, the best thing to do is inform them as soon as you get married so you both can get landed together.
