Subject: Effect of adding spouse to existing file
  Hi everyone,

I have applied to CIC at buffalo to have a PR. Recently, I am going to marry my girlfriend back home. I am just wondering whether it is a good idea to add this new status on my existing PR file or just wait ( not marry right now) until I get the PR. If I want to add, could anyone tell me your experiences or info about the effect of adding spouse ?

Thanks
Bas

Adding a spouse. (in reply to: Effect of adding spouse to existing file)
You can add your spouse now by:
1. Get married immediately
2. Advise Buffalo
3. File forms and fees for her, including a new proof of LICO.
4. She will be approved at the same time you are. If you wait, you will then have to sponsor her after you are approved, and wait another 6-12 months.

Whichever you do, DO NOT get married and the not tell CIC. That would be misrepresentation, and could result in you never being able to sponsor her, as well as loss of your PR.

Thanks Phil !
But should I have to tell them that I am going to marry soon before I go back home or tell them I got married after I get married.

Thanks
