I go away for a nice (although virtual) get-together with Sharon at the pub, and come back to find everyone at it again!

What, DC, is a "Richard-like" guy like me missing? That I don´t understand insecurity because I don´t come from the middle east? Ok, maybe true. But I don´t recall questioning the right of those who do to have such insecurities. I never liked the "reporting" threat made a while back by a previous visitor here, but since then I thought that was over and done with. What did you start, CBV?

In any event, as Roy said, can´t we calm down and get along? We should talk real immigration issues.

By the way, I think God (if he or she exists) would have more important things to worry about than if someone has a beer or not.

Richard,

By mentioning your name I just just tried to clarify the difference of insecuity feeling among "Born North Amercians" and who are still waiting to be "North American". None of CB or I from the middle east. I clearly made in th bracket that you didn´t make any comment there. That argument was entirely with Sharon. For some reasons she can´t understand the insecuity feeling CBV or I feel. I know & appreciate your stand in the Reproting Incident very clearly.

OK, DC thanks for clarifying. I think though that Sharon in her response about "her guy" and related security issues says she does in fact understand.

Also, DC, hope no offense at my humor attempt about alcohol and religion. I understand it´s taken seriously.

I understand you well Richard, you are one of the most sensible perosn still in this forum who goes by logic rather than emotion or motive. As I mentioned your name in a posting and it looks like you felt offended a bit, I clarified my standing.

No I never feel offended for hard drink offering. Though I don´t drink but I do many things contradictory to my religious belief intentionally or unintentionally. That´s why I mentioned that I´m a great life long fan of Coke. How would you always remember my limitations? So no question of offending.

Have a Good Day!

Richard,

I don´t know myself WHAT I started, I went back home and found a posting with my name as a title.

DC is a very sensible person and what he meant by the insecurity feeling is something not usually understood by the "western or western-born" people.

In some Asian countries, getting a visa is much more than a stamp on a passport and "western" people have the luxury of not having trouble to get visa whenever they need one. It is taken for granted. I believe in europe it is easier to get a visa than a driving license for example.

DC pinpointed a question that is normally understood by the people who have to STRUGGLE just to get a visa not even talking about what is next.

I am sure DC did not mean to offend Sharon or any other. Anyway for some it is a matter of life so it is natural that no risk should be taken.

Thanks, CBV. Makes sense what you say. I don´t quite understand what happened either.

Thanks CBV.

That´s what I exactly meant to say, may be as a laguage teacher you have done it better.

This is not any racism or East/West issue. The biggest worry in my life is now this Immigration. This issue only we can feel you are going through this. Everyone has challenges in life, but it varies from person to person.

YES DC

I know exactly what you meant that is why I wanted to clarify especially to Richard because he is one of the good ones here around.

You said "the biggest worry of my life is now this Immigration" ... well same to me! I can´t wait to get this visa and go to Canada ...it would be such a relief ..

But yes everyone has challenges in life and YES it does depend from person to person. Agreed 100% ..:)
