| Subject: How much minimum stay advisable in Canada |

I am working in Middle East as an Engineer for Oil and Gas projects. I have my Immigration approved and Visa stamped on my, my wife?s and my son?s passport. My son is working in US on H1B Visa. Our date stamped until 31March08 for the Visa.My wife and I have 10 years US multiple entry Visa.
We had indicated Calgary as city of entry in the application. Now, we intend to visit US and will get I94 cards. Can we enter Canada from any other port by road say Vancouver though in the application we stated Calgary?
Do we have to surrender the US I94 form when we leave US border and enter Canadian border? For reentry to US, do we need to get another I94?
How much is minimum time advisable for staying in Canada?
Can we get the PR card and SIN card by mail to US or Middle East or do we have to give Canadian address?
For proof of funds, will our Bank Statement (from International Banks)would suffice or do we need to actually carry bank draft/check and/or travellers cards. Could Credit cards with Bank Statement suffice?

You can enter into Canada through any port of entry; by road..plane or train.....
You have to surrender your I-94 to the Canadian Immigration officials if enter by road. If enter by plane then airlines will take away that. When you´ll reenter into the US, the´ll issue you new I-94. Don´t worry.
There is no min´m requirements in initial staying in Canada. BUT it takes about a month or so to get the PR card and SIN card. You have to use a Canadian address; in fact when you enter you have to provide that to them.
No bank statement or credit card statement will work. You have to carry any of cash/draft/TC.

In my case, just bank statement worked. After reaching Canada, I opened a bank account after drawing cash from ATM using an INTERNATIONAL Debit Card.
DC, Is rule categorical about bringing cash/draft/TC?

I entered canada by road. Just showed a ´Bank Statement´ as proof of funds when officer asked for it and that was it.
After reaching Toronto, opened a bank account by drawing cash from ATM using an International Debit card.
