Is it absolutely necessary to renew a PR Card. I´ll be applying for Citizenship before my PR Card´s expiry date and afterwards i dont intend on travelling until I get my passport.. so is it absolutely necessary to renew a PR Card after one has applied for citizenship?

No, I don´t think it´s necessary. Your PR status is independent of your PR Card. PR card is mostly for border, traveling, and government identification. But if you wanted to register for health care or some other government service, you would need to show a valid and current PR card.
