Subject: Delays in Immigration Process: BUFFALO VS MEXICO |

I applied for permanent residence in Mexico City in September 2006 and I got a letter in reply from the Canadian Embassy saying that it would take three years for them to start reviewing my file. This month I sent a inquiry to the Canadian Embassy in Mexico asking about the status of my case and they basically answered: "We told you, you have to wait the three years to start the procedure".
I am already working in Canada under a work permit. I wonder if I should switch my application to Buffalo. It would be faster there? Internet waiting time says that for both Mexico and Buffalo it takes more than 3 years. But I have heard of several people that applied to Buffalo a year ago and they are close now to getting their papers, and me on the other hand I am still on a waiting list just to start the procedure.
Since I applied a year ago I still have to wait at least 2 more years to start the procedure and possible 3 years to get the papers. WOULD IT BE FASTER IN BUFFALO?
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY ADVISE!!!!!!!!!!!!

(in reply to: Delays in Immigration Process: BUFFALO VS MEXICO) If you can afford, better ignore the mexico file and file for a fresh application in Buffalo which is much faster.
Even transfers are not that fast and delay the process, As well more chances of calling for an interview.
Thanks

(in reply to: Delays in Immigration Process: BUFFALO VS MEXICO) I would like to start with a fresh application in Buffalo. I can afford it. However I am concerned about what to do with my application in Mexico.
A transfer would delay the process. A withdrawal may look bad in my file and having two applications at the same time may generate me problems don´t you think? (same name and birthday in the computer would be very easy to note)..
I am not sure about how to do the switch.
I would appreciate any advise.

(in reply to: Delays in Immigration Process: BUFFALO VS MEXICO) Why on earth would you submit a FSW application in your circumstances?
You are working in Canada and have not applied for a PNP certificate?
R U working under the NAFTA or with a LMO, HRSDC approval work permit?
You did your application yourself, didn´t you?
Go to www.cic.gc.ca and on the left side to Immigrate. Then Provincial nominee----READ.
CIC will not transfer your file.

(in reply to: Delays in Immigration Process: BUFFALO VS MEXICO) If you want to apply through Buffalo, send a letter with your file number to the Mexico CIC that you want to withraw your application. You can state the reason for the withdrawal is that you want to submit a new application through Buffalo. Your processing fees will not be returned.
When you apply to Buffalo, you need to mention your previous visa application and that you withdrew it.
