Subject: Family based immigration - sponsering a sibling
I read that Permanet residents in Canada can sponser ONE family member from outside. This family member can be parents or a sibling(brother/sister). Can a canadian Permanent resident apply for family based immigration for a unmarried sibling who is above 25yrs of age ? Is there an age-limit on the sibling?s age. I?m a landed permanet resident in Canada and I would like to sponse my sister. She is above 25 yrs of age and unmarried. Is it possible to sponser her under family based immigration? Please let me know. Thanks.

not quite right.

you can sponsor a long list of family members however once a sibling is over 22, they are not eligible unless they come as a dependent (still in school etc) of your parents.

There is one exception - if you have no other family in Canada (including spouse) CIC will allow you to sponsor one family member that does not fall under their normal criteria.

Sharon is correct.

It is still possible for you to sponsor her, BUT not directly. You have to sponsor your parents, and with them, if she is their dependent then she also can apply.

Read this:

Dependent children
A son or daughter is dependent when the child:

is under the age of 22 and does not have a spouse or common-law partner
is a full-time student and is substantially dependent on a parent for financial support since before the age of 22, or since becoming a spouse or common-law partner (if this happened before age 22) or
is financially dependent on a parent since before the age of 22 because of a disability.

She can´t have break of study of more than 1 year after reaching 22 years.

It depends on many criteria and is a very slow process but good luck.
