What a shock CSIC only lost about forty members with their recent fees increase.

It is sad that so many Consultants need that little piece of membership certificate to ensure clients that they can do the work. Most consultants never appear before the IRB, IAD, ID or any officer with CIC or CBSA.

As Sharon says CSIC is better then what it was before regulation but two days ago I met a Pastor who has been going to the Greater Toronto Enforcement Centre to assist people with their PRRA Pre Removal Risk Assessment applications for two years.

All Pastors are good people????

He let it slip that he had just passed the CSIC membership exam. He then told me that four years ago he had taken a course at York College regarding Immigration Consulting.

He happened to ask too many questions. You work with this person, that person etc. This person is a nice person I am good friends with this person. He knew people that I knew and has been pretending that he has been assiting people with their Immigration problems out of the goodness of his heart.

I thought WOW Business opportunity bring this guy into my office so I can really get into the Chinese community. When I called him yesterday he admitted he had his own office and was not willing to learn from me and that he had been practicing for four plus years always charging a fee.

IS THIS ACCEPTABLE????

please don´t hurt him. I don´t want to visit you in jail.

Sadly, that little piece of paper is the only thing many people have to refer to when they are looking for assistance. It is also sad we live in a world where people choose to prey on the naive and vulnerable - even within their own communities.

The issue is if your a Pastor you should be ethical and not charge a fee when you are not authorized to be giving advice and representing someone before a CBSA officer.

Unlike what some others say I really try my hardest never to report anyone.

My word against a Pastor would not count for much.

a pastor is paid (uually, very little) to offer spiritual direction. He is not paid by the church to offer immigration advice. Perhaps this is his second job! We don´t bat an eyelass that Balwant has several areas of income, we don´t say a word that I have several sources of income... so what is the difference. As we have discussed in earlier threads, there are lots of people out there charging fees for Non CSIC advice and we all agreed it was a buyer beware scenario. I would submit this is similar. H

The issue I would have is that he did not represent himself to YOU in the most upfront manner. For that you should be royally ticked.

Sharon that is just it he was charging more then I charge and getting it!!! Yeah Jealous!

He was not sometimes helping his Church people he was running a business aparently for years before he took the College course to learn how to be a Immigration Consultant.

He was going into CBSA and other offices claiming he was their Pastor representing his clients for free.

Is tha ethical????

What Bally does on the side or in addition to his Consulting business is probably according to the Law in the countries he does that. He is not saying he is doing something for free when in fact he is charging for that service.

All other CSIC members have been paying the huge fees for years while this guy has been slowly building his business before he comes out of the closet so to speak.

It must be frustrating to play by the rules, pay your dues, take your required courses and have someone pass themselves off as equal and then charge more.

I am sure he would say they are not paying him... they are giving him a donation.

ya... frustrating.

I have heard of soem poeple making their clients sign a statement that they are not paying them. At the same time as counting the money just handed to them.

You can call it interpretation costs, church donations, photo copying expenses, washroom fees or BABA fees. A fee is a fee and misrepresenting yourself as a volunteer when in fact your receiving a fee for services is wrong.

Giving the wrong advce anywhere including on this forum where it hurts people and can possibly get them quickly removed is wrong but way wrong when one charges a huge fee for said advice.

CSIC is a useless, corrupting and inevitably corrupt organization that serves no useful purpose and exists to legitimize the ethically challenged who feed on the vulnerable and desperate who have no recourse against predation. When you do a deal with devil, the devil always wins, and CSIC was known and accepted from the beginning to be a compromise with evil.
