Subject: Need assistance
Hi I hope I get help and information regarding a Visit visa in Canada. I and my friend are working here in Dubai, UAE and we are planning to visit Canada next year. I have a friend who is in Alberta for 11years already and he is willing to send me an invitation in order to enter Canada. I would like to ask if, what will be the procedure and documents required from me and from my friend who is sending us invitation? Also we are planning to seek better career opportunity in Canada, we will be able to find jobs under a Visit Visa status? I look forward for your assistance and information.

Visit visa is almost complete on your own. Your friend may give you invitation, that is fine by the book, by it doesn´t have that significance. If they feel free with you, they´ll issue you the visa even without any reference, if not then ...

BUT, do not aby any chance in the visa interview tell that you are looking to job searching/settle in Canada. That will be sufficicent to reject you. Visa intention has to be single, not dual. Visit visa must be entirely for visit, travel.

dear departed_canadian thank you for your reply. can i ask a few more questions i hope you can help me out. well its me and my colleague who will be going there to visit and also try to see if our luck is there. We are currently working in UAE and our contract will exprie next year. We are thinking that before the contract expires we will resign already and visit canada. Will this affect our interview in case we are in canada already. what are the pertinent documents we really need to present in order for us to be not questioned that much and be granted with a visit visa in canada? i heard that certificate of employment is also part of the documents that we need to submit, will they be able to check if you are still employed with the company or not? If that is the case will this affect our chance to be permitted to enter canada? I look forward for all the information and assistance i could get. Thank you once again.

Yes, your record of employment is very very important. Sometimes they verify the information by calling before issuing the visa. I wouldn´t recommend to resign before visa. You shuld have a letter stating that you are granted a vacation from your office. Otherwise they would suspect that you won´t retun.

Other docs include bank statements/balance, your family ties back home, proof of properties...

Why don´t you apply for the skilled worker immigrtation class if within the age limit?

hi departed_canadian. i have read your reply correct me if i am wrong. as you have mentioned that record of employment is very important. you mean it is also possible that once my visa will be approve thats the time i can resign already? they will not verify or question me once i landed in canada? also with the required documents you have stated what you mean by "family ties back home"? they need certification about this? how can i apply for skilled worker immigration? will i take long? i only have 5months left before my contract expires here. will this be enough time to file for the skilled worker immigration visa? i am going 30 by april next year and i was planning before i reached 30 to visit canada and seek opportunity there. what will be the procedure for the above mentioned visa type? can you help me again..i really appreciate your warm and kind assistance.

Once you are granted the Visa, after landing in Canada they won´t ask/check whether you are still employed or not.

But that is extremely important for your visa interview. That is basically your insurance to return. You must have to provide a approval of vacation, also your pay stubs, tax return....

No written proof of family ties can be avaliable. It is kind of verbal. If they come to know that you have bro/sis in Canada that may negatively impact. If they see that you have all back home then feel comfortable that you would return.

For Skilled worker, go here
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp

You can assess your eligibility by inputing your information there. How long? Depends on where do you want to applly. Quickest from USA, 12/15 months. Slowest probbaly in India/Pak, may even take 4/5 years.

You don´t need to be necesarily employed at the time of application. But must have 1 year min´m requirement in an approved field. You´ll be given points in work experience, education, english knowledge....Min´m quaslifying point is 67.

Follow this site, you´ll get many useful ino/tricks.

hi again, i have followed the link you have sent to me and i got 72 points which is also combined with my partner right now. i have come to know from my relatives in my country that we have a family friend who is a lawyer in canada. i think he went there to study and fortunately he pass the board exam and now he is working in canada. can he help us if in case we need someone who can process our papers directly from canada. i inquired here in an immigration agency here in uae and they told me that i need to pay them certain amount for 14 months and i need to wait for 2-3 yrs before they can process my papers as an immigrant, but this will take time as my contract will expire next year i was wondering if within the next 5 months i can do something to process a tourist or skilled migrant visa for canada. i am willing to invest on this if it requires fees for processing our papers as long as it is legal and it will not be something of a lose. you help me so much with the information and explanation you have sent to me. i hope you can still help me all through out because i dont know someone whom i can really ask for valuable information and luckily i found you who is so kind to assist me. i wish you all the best here from you soon.

You can hire an attorney or consultant, upto you. BUT theat doesn´t give you any advantage in processing time. That will remain the same.

I would suggest you to look the forms, they are really easy to fill up, unless you have any complicacy shouldn´t need any external help.

By no way within 5/6 months you´ll get immigrtation visa. As I told yoiu before, you are currently employed/unemployed doesn´t matter. You can apply for a visit visa between. However, once you are applied for immigration, you may be denied other type of visa.

You may apply in business investor class. That is not wasy, very tough, have to show genuine business worth of certain value..

Whatever you heard is partly true. However that doesn´t warrant you the visa. even if you have UK visa you may be rejected the Canadian visit visa.

So, my suggestion is to go straight. Prepare your docs properly and go on.
