Subject: Getting work for Daughter's boyfriend
  Hi there,

I am now living in Canada and working in Alberta, I am on the PNP program. My wife and four children have joined me. However, my eldest daughter (17) is not settling and is thinking of going back to the uk. She is missing her long term boyfriend. We would like to get him some temporary work here in canada so that at least we get some breathing space.

I would be grateful for any help that could be offered. Would it be best for me to attempt to get him a job here in canada and then apply for a work permit or would it be better for him to come as a tourist (with a return flight) and look for work while he is here.

If I find someone who will offer him work how long is it likely to take for the work permit application to be processed.

Many thanks for any help.

Being from Britain, he can apply for open work permit at Canadian Embassy in Britain and show up with a year´s work permit. Or he could just fly in without visa (Brits do not need a visa), look for work and change to work permit after finding work!
