Subject: WHats happening with my file??
  hi everyone,

Needed some advice. In August this year i got a call for an interview at New delhi. But as i have moved to Germany and couldnt make it i sent the canadian consulate in New delhi a letter asking them to terminate my application.

i intend to apply from here in germany with my German wife ( fully aware that it will take another few years)

The problem is that i havent heard from them and its November now. I kow that they do not entertain any correspondence as to the progress of files. wondering if there is any other method of knowing whats going on.

also is it true that those who applied before 2001 get a refund of some 500 $ as the fee structure was reduced? heard that from a friend.

any info on the above would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Sheldon

you can only apply for a refund if you request it before IA. I think the only thing you could request now would be prepaid landing fees.

Hmmm, you bring up an interesting point.... I am assuming that the consulates may not talk to each other, but if you do apply for PR from Germany and if New Delhi does not terminate your PR application, how will it proceed ?
I hope they will be 2 different entities altogether. I know e-case is not reliable, but have you tried to check the status there ? Some people say CAIPS will give you additional information about the status, maybe you can check that out too.

I don´t know that you would get acknowledgement of your termination.

I would add a note to your new application that refers to your old file number and simply state you requested the file be closed. It will show up in their data anyway but this way you are being forthcoming about all your information - it won´t hurt!

hi everyone,

thanks for replying and for the advice. i will add the file number from my last application mentioning that i had applied and withdrawn my application.

i must say it is rather rude and inappropriate a policy that they do not acknowledge receipt of the termination letter. How is one suppose to know?

The refund is not so big an issue for me as me having the peace of mind that the process has been terminated in India. also just to point out....the new delhi office keptsending mail to my old address in india even though i informed them twice of my change in address. I was fortunate that the people who now live there were kind enough to inform me and forward it to me.

anyway. thanks once again for the help. this is an awesome forum.

what did the last letter say from CIC? was there any ´if you do not reply within 120 days we will close your file´ type of language?

The last letter said that i am expected for the interview and that if i don´t show up my case will be judged based on all the information they have. my only worry is that they go on and process my case and refuse my immigration which i don´t want happening. thats why i wrote them a letter to withdraw my application.

any ideas?
