Well I thought long about NOT posting this video which runs ten minutes. That would be un-Canadian.

The video is about an Immigrant who did not clear customs the night before. It is about his unecessary death in my opinion.

His death happened at Vancouver International Airport.

I applaud the Canadian who forced the release of this video.

CBSA officers will have many questions to answer why he was not landed the night before.

Those four Police Officers should answer why Correctional Officers have to subdue far more dangerous individuals every single day with no Taser Guns. Why the rush to Taser?

I read the news before. Very unfortunate. The guy who made the VDO said, "´Right away they Tasered him´
´Before they even got to him,´ cops keen to stun distraught immigrant.

That´s what got the media attention.

"Why"

RCMP took the VDO from the guys who made it, and according to him wasn´t willing to return him back.

"When Pritchard turned it over to police, they promised to return it within 48 hours. Later they told him it could be one to two years before he got it back.

"There´s a clear image of what happened -- so why are they hiding it?" said Pritchard, who´s now suing the Mounties in an effort to get his video back.

Pritchard´s comments yesterday at a Victoria press conference triggered a war of words with the RCMP, who hours later called their own press conference in Vancouver at which Cpl. Dale Carr, spokesman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, said Pritchard can have his video back in seven to 10 days."

I don´t know the latest, whether it was retunrned or any decision made by the inquiry.

As far as I read, this Polish immigrant did not present any threat to anyone he was just acting weird maybe he had a medical problem who knows ?, therefore it cannot be justified they Trasered him.

One witness heard the policeman asking "should I trasered him ?" ... sounds like they made a big mistake.

I feel bad for his mother.

The guys Prichard, who made the VDO now suing the RCMP, also the ill fated mum suing.

Prichard claimed that " police walked in calmly, approached Dziekanski and shocked him within about 15 seconds of arriving." - If it is so then I have to say those cops don´t have any right to serve anymore, must be punished for over exercising their power.

All deaths are sad. But what else can be more unfortunate when an innocent man had to die like that, most probably for not having english knowledge?

More pathetic is that, this poor guy´s mom went to the airport to pick him up. Couldn´t find him. He was at the baggage claiming area. She requested the airport officials to find him, they informed her later that he wasn´t there, while he was just few feet away from her. Then she returned home, and after 3.5 hrs that incident happened.

So, with the police, this incident raised question about the efficiency of the airport officials as well who are supposedly well trained to help visitors/immigrants with poor/little english.

People in Vancouver are very upset.

Here is what we know locally. Mr. Dziekanski arrived on an afternoon flight from Frankfurt. Family class sponsorship (Mom has no other family in Canada). Mr. D spoke no english or french.

Mom told him to wait for her at the luggage carrousel and she would find him. What she did not know is that the luggage carrousel for international flights is behind the security gate and she could not go in.

Mr. D waited there for 6 hours and Mom did not come. People tried to help but he could not communicate and nobody seemed to speak english.

He finally cleared customs but appears that he remained confused and very stressed (I would be too). He started throwing office equipment around - no doubt our of sheer frustration.

At the same time... Mom is looking for her son. According to her report, Airport staff screw up and say he is not there. She goes home. He is still waiting for her.

Then it all goes horribly wrong. I cannot begin to explain the rest other than they would only show parts on the TV with endless warning.

I am very pleased that someone has video (what are the odds). While I am extremely upset and the Airport authority and the RCMP - I am thankful that the story is out and we may have a chance at making sure this never happens again.

Please be assured that there is nobody in this city that thinks this is acceptable. Nobody.

What you said is correct. I did not know so much of the details but it is true that this man was not a threat and they have a record of 18 deaths using the Traser so why they used it is beyond me.

I wonder what will happen next. I hope those who did that will be fired.

This guy cannot be blamed for not speaking English. He was behaving strangely and I read he has been violent but this is not a reason for traser him as he was not a threat by himself for others ... this story is very strange.

This guy was innocent and his mother was waiting for him outside. So so bad.

Airport officials in Vancouver will get their image down.

Nothing can bring the poor departed soul, only consolation is citizens are furious and hopefully justice will be served.

I recall a similar incident in the US most probably in the 90´s.

A Japanese with no English knowledge was looking for a freind´s house, knocked a wrong door. The homeowner told him to go away, which that poor guys didn´t get. Then the homeowner shot him dead.

How pathetic.

please be clear... I am not making any excuses for what happened and I just read this part now - Cathay Pacific had a flight arriving in that very same area with 300 people on it. If you have been in that part of YVR you would know that it is not a very large area and having someone distressed and potentially violent would be disaster.

Does not change what happened... but it is another piece of the puzzle.

The weird part is when you watch the actual video there were four Police Officers who could of used different tactics and good of easily had him handcuffed.

Correctional Officers do it daily in Jails and Prisons.

CBSA could of kept the people on the plane and many times they board the planes before anyone gets off to check documents on refugee producing flights.
