My wife and I immigrated in Canada 5 months ago thorugh the Skilled workers program after over 2 years of wait. Unfortunately things were not working very well for us for a while before leaving Cuba and we have decided to separate in a friendly manner. If any of us were to marry again in our country of origin could we sponsor our new spouse to come to Canada?

This depends.
How did the two of you immigrate from Cuba???
Most Cuban´s do not have sufficent funds for establishment in Canada under the FSW program. If you were sponsored to Canada and things did not work out in theory you can sponsor a partner from Cuba.
IF YOUR A PR WOULD CUBA LET YOU RETURN TO MARRY ANOTHER CUBAN?
The issue is the time frame. If you were sponsored to Canada and after two months of residency for example you leave your partner/sponsor and divorce 12 months after that. Yes you could be approved to sponsor someone else from Cuba.
ODSS ARE.......... CIC will come after you to take away your PR status due to the fact they will believe that your sponsored marriage was nothing more then a marriage of convience. MOC
Defending MOC´s right now. Sometimes CIC interpretation of events are correct but sometimes not!
