Looks like Sharon caught something here. It seems even Canadian citizens would also fall under this screening, but only if entering the U.S. not as visitors but on permanent basis, i.e., TN NAFTA visa, spouse/family sponsorship, etc.

It was not described very well.

I agree. I needed to read 2-3 articles before I finally got the drift. This is not about the weekend trip to Vegas.

This is the long term work, stay, marry, stuff.

Along with this we already know that there are new passport regulations affecting Canadian citizens.

Richard,

Doesn´t look like that is the fact.

If so, then it would be a major change for the Canadians. So far no clear declaration I see anywhere; USCIS website or US embassy Canada site.

I´m mostly convinced by the statement like.."Now Canadians have to give 2 fingers.." which is not true for the citizens, but for the PRs. Meaning mixing up citizens with PRs. Canadian citizens didn´t need to be finger printed ever like it said.

Passport regulations also valid for the US citizens as well.

Sharon,

Your link clearly told:

Canadians who are subject to the US-VISIT process include:

? Citizens of Canada applying for admission with a non-immigrant visa such as Canadian citizens with K visas (fianc?s) and E visas (treaty trade investors).

? Canadian permanent residents. Under U.S. regulations, Canadian permanent residents are identified by their citizenship (i.e., the nationality of the passport that they carry), not by the fact that they may be permanently residing in another country such as Canada.

? Canadians with dual nationality who present a non-Canadian passport when seeking to enter the United States.
Others who are subject to the US-VISIT process include:

? Current Canadian permanent residents who are participants in NEXUS and/or FAST who may be required to enroll in US-VISIT when they renew their multiple entry Form I-94s.

? Visitors renewing their multiple-entry Form I-94. All current, valid Form I-94s remain in effect. US-VISIT biometric collection requirements will be either at the time of the next issuance of the Form I-94 or at the discretion of the Customs and Border Protection Officer.

So, I don´t see any change for the Canadians other than the PRs (NOT CITIZENS).
