Subject: visa expires, will i be able to return to canada?
  Hello,
I have a canadian Visa that expires in January 2008, i have purchased tickets to go to Europe and to return back to canada and then a week later return home to Korea, but i would not return till after my visa has already expired.
question is will i be aloud to come into canada for the one week and then leave for korea?

how does that work?

Border Services are under no obligation to allow you re-entry. An expired visa of 1 week or 1 year is irrelevant.

what sort of visa is it?

Sorry, i have a student visa.
i also have a US Visa which doesnt expire till 2018.
when i return from europe it would be about 2 weeks overdue.

so even if i have a ticket to return home a week after i get back to from europe you think they wont let me stay for the one week?

Visa is a document that allows your entry. Without it, there is never a guarantee they will let you enter. Ticket or no ticket is irrelevant - ticket is an agreement that the air company will transport you and a certain amount of your belongings from point A to point B. It has nothing to do with you actually being allowed entry in point B.

You should either have your visa extended or get a new one.

hi there,

south koreans can enter canada without visa for staying less than 6 months as long as your passport is valid for at least 6 months. therefore, even if you stayed in canada as a student you can enter canada as a visitor when you get back from your trip to europe.

good luck.

A VISA IS A DOCUMENT THAT ENSURES THE AIRLINE WILL NOT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE IF YOU ARRIVE AT THE PORT OF ENTRY!!!!!

ENTRY IS ALWAYS DECIDED AT A POE AND DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IF YOU HAVE A VISA OR NOT. THE ISSUE OF WHETHER YOU ARE OR ARE NOT GRANTED ADMISSION IS BASED ON YOUR REASON FOR ENTRY AT TIME OF ARRIVAL AND WHETHER YOU PROVIDE LOGIAL REASONS FOR YOUR STAY AND DEPARTURE.
