Subject: Background check- why takes so long?
If a person submits with their application the clearance report, why would they take another couple of months to do some more investigation? Just curious!
Thanks.

The immigration office will not take the face value of the Police clearance you submit. They do their own background checking so to ascertain themselves. Its 3-4 months for Background Checking.

Good luck

Hi all,

PCC and BC (Background Check) have different functionality.

PCC is a restricted domain of background check. It gives the record of the current criminal status where you live presently. It gives pretty restricted information.

Whereas, any places which have scope of international secutiry check requires special security procedure. This check is not within the scope of a common person. It is a diplomatic issue and only designated security agencies can request and gather such information.

Moreover, PCCs give the broader idea of criminal activities within the current residential country. But, to find out an international link (if at all any) for terrorism related activities, political involvement, sabotage activities, etc. one must be politically able and authorized to conduct this type of check. No individual can do this. There are national security agencies authorized to request and interact between different countries for BC.

The time for BC varies from 2 months to well over a month. It is ridiculous especially when the countries are involved in war, terrorism or politically instabled.

I guess.... (in reply to: Background check- why takes so long?)
Well we have not other options then to wait. Its good that my husband lived only in States and he received his PCC and BC very fast.
For some people it takes 6-9 months to get their PR so its just too bad that immigration takes extra months to get background check on their own.
Well we gotta wait and thats all about.

well i guess it´s all depends on the visa requirements in your area, usually it´ll take long if your application is queuing after many thousands of applicants.

please also bear in mind the CIC prioritizes other people who got higher points than you do.

Cheers,

Neo
