For almost all countries you need to have the Visa despite being PR. Even for UK.

Pravin,
Canadian PR is not going to help you outside Canada in any way.

You need to be citizen for not requiring visa. PR does not help in that.

What DC and Raj said is 100% true :)

Not entirely true Raj.

It helps to get you UK visa just by mail.

Helps you to waive mandatory transit visa (if you use UK).

I was just thinking about this mandatory transit visa through UK because with H1B you don´t need one so PR must be the same.

But still you need a visa for the countries you needed a visa before PR.

It would have been good thing if a PR status can waive you all the visas for all the countries, after all the screening/waiting/paperworking .... too bad!

CBV,

I didn´t know that you don´t need UK transit visa with H-1! So, should be same for the H-4 I guess???

Last month my wife has hard time with Airlines about this stupid UK transit visa issue. They were saying that she needed transit visa. Thoough as a Canadian PR shes doesn´t need that. Now u r saying as a H-4 holder also she doesn´t need that.

I´ll bear that in mind.

I am not sure about H4 visa but I know it for H1B visa unless the rules have changed.

A lot of my friends go to India via London and they don´t need a transit visa (they are H1B holders) but I don´t know about their wives.

We flew through Amsterdam last year just to be on the safe side because the rules keep changing. Things may have changed. Better check with the proper authorities.

I think for the H1B it depends on the validity of the visa. If the stamped visa on your passport is expired you need it, otherwise it should be okay.

Acutally, if you visit the Cayman Islands you do not need a visa if you hold a Canadian PR card.

Some countries will waive the visa requirements as long as you show a valid PR card.
The US used to do it 6 years ago.
And see Canada... CIC will waived the visa requirement for Green card holders.

However, always check with the country´s embassy before your departure.
