Subject: Pregnant Daughter
I´m working over here and on the pnp program in Alberta. My 17 year old daughter who is unsettled is now pregnant by her boyfriend who has had to return to the uk after his extended stay with us.

I have presumed that if she stays here and has the baby in canada the child will automatically be a canadian citizen. Is this true?

If the child is a canadian citizen would this help her boyfriend to return to canada and be allowed to stay and work here?

Any help and advice gratefully received.

Yes, the child will be a Canadian if born in Canada. Would it help in getting the bf back? Ask a lawyer and he may come up with some sort of humanitarian and compassionate grounds. Otherwise, no.

R U on a work permit and applying under the Alberta PNP Program? Or R U a PR?

What do you mean by your daughter is (unsettled). I just do not understand that terminology.

If her (your daughters) babies father is listed on the statement of live birth it would assist any sponsorship from application in the future. The fact that he is the father gets him five points as a skilled worker applicant.

When you state the (boyfriend had an extended stay) with you was he removed on an exclusion order for overstaying or working without authorization?

Thanks for the replies. I am on a work permit and I am applying on the Alberta PNP program. My Daughter is 17 and is listed on the application.

When I say she is unsettled I mean that she is not happy. She didn´t like the school so is doing the work at home, doesn´t have any friends yet and obviously would prefer to be back in the UK with her boyfriend.

Her boyfriend stayed with us until the end of October. He didn´t work while he was here and left on the return flight he booked with his outward ticket.

While he was here he looked into the prospect of work in canada and handed out some resumes. We believed that if he could find someone to offer him a job then the paperwork could be submitted for a work permit.

Thanks again for the help.
