Subject: for how longthe visa is valid?

Is the visa valid for one year from the date of the medical exams or the date they receive the passport for visa stamping?

Example.

Medical exams will be done in Jan 08 and the passport will be sent and received by the immigration center at Buffalo in April 08...The visa expiry date will be April 09 or Jan 09?
