Subject: questions interview and fbi criminal record
well exactly a year after sending in my application for sponsored perm. residence from within canada I have finally recieved that letter, my interview is coming right up next week. My wife who is a canadian sponsored me and we have a almost 3 years boy and almost 4 year old girl, will it be looked down on if I bring my kids with me to the interview? I know my wife needs to be there and we don´t have anyone to look after them so we have to bring them with us. Also what should I expect from this interview, all they said was it was decision made and I have an interview, someone said this is just a meeting to obtain my perm. residence card? the letter also states the interview is only 15 minutes long is this accurate? sorry for so many question I just want to be prepared

also about 5 months ago I recieved a letter from them saying they needed a Passport (I entered the country with a birth certificate) which it took some time but I got, and a criminal record from the FBI which I did not, when I sent in my copy of my passport I included a letter stating I had not recieved my FBI criminal record yet, but they chose to move it forward to decision made without the fbi criminal record and just the passport, is this common?

I surely appreciate any answers

thanks!

Yes you can take the children to the interview. You could also consider taking a friend to babysit if they can not sit still and be calm during the interview. The officer could be calling you in for a landing interview. You have not said enough about what the letter said that you received. We you notified in another letter that you application was approved pending medical and security clearances. If this is the case it is probably a landing interview. In this case the officer will confirm that your wife is your wife (ID will be asked for) and that she is aware of her sponsorship obligations as per the Undertaking of assistance.

If this is not the case the interview could be an interview to determine if the marriage is bonafied. This interview takes longer than 15 minutes. If it is an interview to determine the bonafieds of the relationship you will be asked about your status in Canada, how you came to Canada, how you met your wife. Questions related to the development of the relationship will be asked.

Typical examples of the questions are:
How many brother and sisters do you and your wife have
Have you met each others relatives and parents
Who was at your wedding
What is the date of the wedding, date of proposal, date you met. What is the date of your wife´s birthday, children´s birthdays etc etc
Tell me about your living arrangements. Who pays the bills. Does your wife work, what is her job, salary etc etc
How do you split household chores. what did you have for breakfast. Describe the house or apartment or bedroom etc
If you were married before the officer will ask questions about that relationship. If their is an age difference that is significant this issues will be addressed.
Often the officer will split the couple up and ask them a series of questions and check to see if the answers are the same. Do not guess. If you do not know the answer say I do not know.

The officer can ask many questions. These are just some examples. They want to see if the relationship is genuine. You may also be asked about your passport and attempts to get police clearances etc. You will also be asked about any criminality etc.

This is only if it is a marriage interview and not a landing interview.

the first part of the letter says

in previous correspondence, you were informed that you had been granted and exemption from certain legislative requirements and that you must meet all other statutory requirements of the immigration and refugee protection act. A final determination on whether you meet the statutory requiremnts can only be made at an examination interview

it gives the date and time and states it will only be from 9:45 to 10:00 AM

it says bring my RPR fee of $490 with me

I was told on the phone that I was ready for landing a few weeks ago but I guess I just didn´t understand what the letter was saying, i´m not sure what legislative requirements i´ve been exempted from

anyhow thank you for your nice reply its in a couple days so we will see
