Subject: Regarding Landing
  Hi all,

I received my RR and planning to land by mid Dec 2007. I´m currently in NY. What is the best way to travel from NY to Ottawa? I don´t plan to drive, so I´m wondring if there is something like greyhound.

Also, what can put in my "to follow" list? I´ll put my car but else I can include (e.g. furniture) and how detail the list should go?

I´m planning to do my landing and stamp my H1B visa and return back.

Thanks a lot!

I forgot to ask one more question. Do I need to take the $9,800 with me when I land? Will the officier ask me for that money? I find it somewhat hard to take cash.

Thanks!

Yes, Greyhound is available. Check their website for details.

You need to bring the funds either in cash, TC,...

You do not need to bring the money with you, nor should you ever travel with that much cash! DO bring bank statements, etc that show that you have the necessary funds available, should your IO ask.

Your goods to follow list should be very complete; remember that any items not on the list will be taxed when you import them. Large items (appliances, electronics, etc) should include the serial numbers. You should list each item, including serial numbers where applicable, along with the approximate value in Canadian dollars (currently roughly the same as US dollars). You can use the form CIC provided you, or make one up in Excel or similar spreadsheet.

Good luck with your landing!
