Subject: Explanation for Option C printout
  ________________________________________
I am applying for sponsorship for my german husband from outside of Canada.
I will not be able to provide an Option C printout for the most recent taxation year beacuse I have been living and working outside of Canada for 3 years. In the document checklist Q.17 I have to provide an explanation.
1. Is my explanation as simple as that? or are there documents that I should provide? what?
I need a bit of help on what to write.
Thanks,
Irene

Your explanation will not wash with CIC!

Regardless of where you earned money taxes are to be paid in the country you are a citizen. You can claim anything you want being Canadian, I think you will understand.

I have a client that claimed he earned NOTHING and he was approved to sponsor his spouse. His excuse was that he was being paid cash so he really did not know the exact amount he earned so he claimed nothing instead of too much. We then sent in his notice of assessment and he was approved as a sponsor.

Income is not an issue when sponsoring a spouse or dependent child but I suggest you complete last years income tax and e-file same ASAP. You do not want to attract attention of Revenue Canada eh.
