Subject: question for DC
I know you have probably told us bits and pieces of your story over time but I was wondering if you might briefly share your journey.

Did you come to Canada as a student, work permit, skilled worker? Based on your recent comments, I am now assuming you landed and were here long enough to gain citizenship. The citizenship part caught me off guard - I would not have expected you to go to through the trouble given your experience.

I was speaking to a friend about immigrant disappointments and when I told them about your story I realized I could not answer too many of their questions. As we know from this forum, we can´t help very much without basic information.

I think this is entirely personal and in the future don´t want to share in such depth,

Anyway, I think I already told that.

When I first landed in Canada I was a student in the US. My immigration process was started back home and after few months in US my process was finbalized. Then I spent a full summer in Canada (while student in the US)..

Don´t worry, I didn´t cheat anyway in gaining citizenship as you suspected. I didn´t need Canada to use the step stone for the USA. I was well settlesd in the US at that time and left a stable job. Even after coming into Canada within the first few months I could´ve returned to US in my old company wasily. They were more than willing to let me again after hearing my misery. I took the challenge then and decided to finish the U of T degree. In fact, I did the reverse aganist the wave and then had to pay for that.

Citizenship issue shouldn´t relate anyway to the disappoint. Now, no one can help me by anyway, I´m well settled in life now. Thanks.

I don´t know why you pick me up as something alien. I´m not. I showed you your own newspapeer regarding, so I shouldn´t be alone. I wish I could give you the details of my other colleauges of U of T, Ryerson, Waterloo,..
I can´t do that without their permission.

I´m nothing, more qualified people suffered more than me. Did you see the chinese guy committed suicide last year holding Ph.D in neulear physics from Purdue University? Purdue is a one of the most prestigious school of the world.

"It was the latest of several high-profile suicides among skilled Chinese immigrants in Toronto - a phenomenon many fear is only the tip of the iceberg, given the poor job this country sometimes does of integrating newcomers and addressing their mental-health needs."

So, while talking with your freinds, this poor chap should get more priority than me.

wasn´t looking to trap you - just trying to understand what happened. I have seen your research etc. I wanted a first hand example.

I have read the article and I could not agree more. Settlement in Canada is hard and the emotional and psychological well being of all immigrants is something that must be addressed. We are a society where people go for psychological help without stigma. we forget that other cultures are not nearly as open and that things like depression are shameful.

If Someone gets psychological or cultural shock in Canada then I wouldn´t blame Canada a least. If I immigrate somehere then then best thing would be to mingle with the mainstream as much as it is possible. It is totally stupid to assume that Canadian culture would change itself to fit me.

Immigration is always balancing. You´ll get something and also have to sacrifice something. People from east must have to sacrifice their culture in some extent. If that sacrifice is too much then who can help? Go home.

They may not fully aware of job situation unless come, but for sure should´ve known the culture.
