  I want so share some of my experience and ask for advice:
I applied within Canada as a sponsored partner (common-law) in september 2003. I received approval in principal in June 2004, so far everytime I´ve called them they say everything is o.k. with my file , they are just waiting for the background cleareance to be finished. I´ve got this answer from long time ago. Now it´s been a year and three months since I sent my application and desicion hasn´t been made because they are waiting for the last agency´s result of my backgrtound cleareance. Two agents have told me the latest they guess desicion is going to be made is by january or february.,2005.
What makes me feel more frustrated is that I have a friend who is from my same country and he applied under the same circumstances as me and they gave him AIP 5 months after he send his application to Alberta and desicion was made a month later( total process 6 months) I feel very happy for him but this makes me this that quickness depends on what kind of lazy people are working on your file .
If I don´t get a response by january or februrary would anybody suggest to use a lawyer?? CIC says that I am still within the normal processing time.
Any constructive inputs will be appreciated.Thanks for taking your time to read this post.

are you and your friend from the same home country? Are your applications exactly the same? Have you lived in different countries? All these things affect processing time. I am sure you are frustrated. I really do not believe that CIC holds on to files just to make people angry - it does not make sense that they would do such things. Request your CAIPS notes and perhaps you find out why the delay or what the concern is. It takes 4-5 weeks for the notes to arrive. I would not involve a lawyer unless there is a problem with the actual application. They cannot make anyone hurry.

Thanks for your reply::
We are from the same country, but he lived in the US for the last couple of years(he was living illegaly there) and I just have lived in my home country and also my friend sent the application 9 months after me and his case was finished in this month.
How do I get the Caips notes??
Do I have to pay??
Thanks for your reply

search CAIPS notes on this site and you should get all the information that you need. It costs $5 if a Canadian requests them and $30 if you require an agency to do it on your behalf (some funny Canadian laws).

I cannot explain why your file is taking longer. There could be 100 reasons and we still would not know for sure. CIC is saying that your file is within their processing standards. That might be the best answer you are going to get. Hopefully you get your next instructions before the CAIPS arrive. Good luck

Hi Damir::
What you mean is that they will eventually accept more immigrants because they need people to do the job canadians don´t want to do???
Anyways..I think I may just wait until februray (that´s the time they calculated I should hear from them). Anyways they´ve said everything´s fine and they just need the result of my Background Clearence.
Regarding your point of view about jobs made by immigrants I must let you know that I know many canadians who are working as waiters too and I am alredy working and not as a waiter. I understand that doors may be closed in certain fields or you must validate certificates which may cost a lot of money but I also understand that some immigrants have a very poor english and their educations could be poor too( in this case it would be difficult to hook up a good job ).
All what I try to say is that I am aware that could be difficult to get the kind of job you want and to get your expertise recognized but we have to be positive and do not get stuck with the negative idea that we´ll end up the jobs canadians do not want to do.

Yo dude dont be angry.. your friend might got higher points than you do, also maybe in the consulate where he file his PR got fewer applicants than in your area.

Thanks,

Neo.
