Subject: work permit point will be gone after I apply?
I am concerned about my immigration points. I applied as a skilled worker and received a file number a month ago; I gained 10 points from my current work permit. But, my immigration consultant tells me that this 10 points earned will be deducted once my work permit expires in April 2008. Is it true that my points will be dropped under 67 and disqualified even though my application is still in the reviewing and processing stage?

Thanks in advance,

You got the points under arranged employment correct? This means that you have to have the job at the time of the application AND at the time the permanent residence visa is issued. So you need to extend the work permit because the visa is most likely not going to be issued before your work permit expires and you have to maintain your current status.

Thank you so much for your reply. As i have 1 year postgraduate work permit, it doesn´t seem like that i can extend it. I will study English hard to get full score from IELTS so, it could cover my loss point.

Thanks a lot,
