Subject: Family Class Sponsorship Income - Help :(
  Hi,
I´m an 18 year old Canadian citizen (born in Toronto) living in America with my American spouse. We want to move to Canada together so I can study at UBC or SFU. I´m completing the sponsorship forms, but I read that the sponsor has to meet certain minimum income requirements. What if the sponsor is a student or young, as I am?
Here in America we live off my spouse´s income. I have no income as such since I can´t work in this country; just a bank account with about $9,000 in it which I´m saving for university fees/paying the rent when we arrive in Canada. Once in Canada I hope to find a part time job at a veterinary clinic, and my spouse will be looking for a job too. I will be enrolling in either UBC or SFU in Vancouver for an undergraduate degree.
Any advice on what I should do about the whole income thing would be very helpful! I´m quite worried :(

spousal sponsorship does not require income requirements unless there are children involved.

when you prepare your application, you will be required to demonstrate your intent to return to Canada. sounds like you have some pretty definite plans so make sure CIC is aware of your intentions.

the best of luck to you

in case of ineligibility... (in reply to: Family Class Sponsorship Income - Help :()
Wow, really? That´s great. I have a couple other questions. On the "provide proof of plans to re-establish" section, it asks for photocopies of job offers or letters of acceptance by educational institutions etc.
Because of time issues, I need to send the immigration forms as quickly as possible (I was hoping around January) since I really want to be able to go to Canada with my spouse around May or June, or at least definitely before September.
However, most universities don´t send out letters of acceptance until at least April so that´s a problem. I don´t know what I´m going to provide for photocopies.
Also I´m wondering, in case I´m ineligible as a sponsor, is there any point at all in proceeding with the application for permanent residence, or will it just mean I´ll lose the money and my spouse will get turned down?

not sure if you will make your May/June deadline. Check on processing times.

You are not ineligible as a sponsor so don´t worry about that part. The only thing that will potentially cause problems is if your wife has been a convicted criminal or has serious health issues (and even then... CIC give a lot of room with spousal sponsorships)

your biggest hurdles is showing Canada you are coming home and how long everything might take.
