Subject: How does it work in Toronto? |
I am moving to Toronto next year. My question is about renting an apt in Toronto via a Real Estate agency. Do potential tenants pay agents for finding an apartment, or do landlords pay agents for finding a tenant?
Thanks in advance.

Both (in reply to: How does it work in Toronto?) agencies get paid for finding a tenant and agencies get paid for finding a place.

How does it work in Toronto? (in reply to: How does it work in Toronto?) Jean,
I understand, agencies do both in general, but in certain cities agencies mainly do one side of a search, depending on demand/supply. For exaple, in NYC usually agents get paid by the tenant (because there are more people looking for a place to live than houses). In Chicago, usually landlords pay the agent to find a tenant, becase there are less people looking. Got the gist? So what is it like in TO?

Walk down the street (in reply to: How does it work in Toronto?) Hi
I use to live in Canada, what i did was just walk down the street in an area i like, look at apt buildings. Usely there is a sight up if there is a vacancy. Try that. An easy way.
Good luck
