I used to live in canada, i was a refused refugee claimant. I got married two years ago, my wife is canadian citizen. We left canada a year ago because she had job abroad. When i left canada i did not report, if i am under deportaton on removal order, but if she wants to sponsor me now, can i expect any major difficulties?

(in reply to: overstayed, married, can i go back?) yes, because CIC will assume yours is a marriage of convenience and you will need to convince them otherwise.

(in reply to: overstayed, married, can i go back?) The main issue you have is that you have no confirmation of departure.
Authorization of Return by the Minister is possible but when you pay the additional $400.00 write a letter and say sorry for making the refugee claim.
We regularly bring back people in your situation.

(in reply to: overstayed, married, can i go back?) Yes, you will have problems. You broke the law.
You need permission to return to Canada.

(in reply to: overstayed, married, can i go back?) So to beat the system you got married under someone elses name. hmmm will I have a problem? Ask yourself this did you change your fingerprints when you changed your name?
Living a lie is just that living a lie!

(in reply to: overstayed, married, can i go back?) Roy, I totally agree with you.
I don?t want to believe it.. My god, this is not only a lie; it is more than that, in my opinion it is a crime.
The one who is able to change his name to come here to Canada, could also change the content of police report. Sorry, Mr. Muhammad, if I?m chocked.
Regards,
