Hello all
I became PR in 2006 and came back to USA in one week before i received my PR card. After a month CIC sent a letter that my photograph was not upto specification and was stated that i have to be in-person to the vancouver local office and complete the form and finish the PR card issuance process. But i am in the USA by the time the letter was mailed to CANADIAN address.Now i am planning to go CANADA. So do i need to apply for Travel Document or R1 visa ? Some one in this forum said that i have to apply for R1 Visa .

You can apply for a travel document!!!
I did the same and got the Travel document issued for 6 months saying as a "PERMANENT RESIDENT" VISA

I also came to India without receiving PR card. I applied for travel document. They gave me R-1 visa (stuck to a page of my passport) . R-1 visa looks same as visitor visa or work visa. It is just that category is ´R-1´ and just next to R-1 , "PERMANENT RESIDENT" is written.

i got my pr card in 2006 i along with my family went to Vancouver and came back to my home country,after winding up everything in my home country we again went to Toronto and lived there for more then a year but unable to find any jobs for ourselves subsequently my wife got a job from a Canadian company who posted her in India to see their opretaions,so we all came to India in 2010,we applied renewal of our pr cards in 2011 and submitted all the relevant documents with cic,thereafter cic sent a detaled questionnaire which we comleted and sent the same to cic along with all the relevant documents,then cic wrote us to apply for travel document and if you get the same then inform us then we will instruct you further,so we applied the travel document and got the same as R-1 visa.
my worry is only this can cic refuse to issue our pr cards if yes on what grounds.

I am travelling to Canada on a Botswana passport with a
R1 visa that says permanent resident stuck to my passport. Is this sufficient to travel or do I need any further documentation. I am relocating to Canada.
