  hi!

I am canadian and my boyfriend is Mauritian. We presently live in London, UK. We want to move in Canada, Quebec. We will ask for a permanent residency for him, I will sponsor him.

But first, we need to be unmarried partner. We live together for a year. I was wondering vhere to go, which paper we have to fill, do we have to contact a lawyer? Do thoses procedures take long to do? Is the ambassy can attest for the unmarried partners?

Thank you very much for your help
Catherine

If you have been living common Law for a year you can already sponsor him while your not even residing in Canada. Read the OP2 Manual.

For now, we just live together... we did´nt sign anything to prove the fact that we are common law. Do we have to sign a paper in front of a lawyer before... or the paper provided by Immigration Canada is enough?

I don´t find the OP2 manual... Where can I find it?

Thanx

Here is the Overseas Processing OP2 manual http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/op/op02e.pdf
There is a common-law form you must complete see it in the spousal sponsorship forms. The question CIC will have and others will have for you to prove is WHY have you not signed anything to prove your relationship?

R U not committed to one another? No insurance, joint lease etc.
