Subject: Shifting 2 other province after Quebec immigration
Can I move to other provinces after immigrating via Quebec-selected skilled worker class or not? Many people told me that entering via the Quebec selection means living and working ONLY in Quebec, one is not eligible to transfer to other provinces but I did not find any reference for it. If it is so, how long this restriction applies.
Thanks in advance

this is the $64,000 question. You will have signed a declaration that you intend to settle in Quebec. doing anything less is misrepresentation. However, there is no clear rules that I have ever seen that sets out how long you must live in Quebec after landing. I would strongly suggest that landing and your initial mailing address should be in Quebec.

If someone can show me where there is some clear rules, I would truly love to see them. We have been debating this subject since the beginning of time.

I believe I can contribute to this question. A co-citizen of mine received Permanent Residence via Quebec and the immigration guard told him that he is obliged to land in Quebec and have a permanent address in Quebec until he receives his PR card. Then he can move.

I asked because I myself did not find any clear rules...

Quebec is the only province that offers a ´quick´ selection process. (not sure how quick it is, but some say it is easier and quicker to go to Quebec than other provinces)

By requesting Quebec selection, you are promising to contribute to Quebec - there are no other provinces that make this sort of ´deal´.

If you apply under the general skilled worker application you are free to land, live and work any where you choose - and that includes Quebec!

Do you think that intent to reside in Quebec can create any problem at the time of citizenship?

as much as some people would like it to be otherwise, Quebec is a part of Canada. In the eyes of the constitution and other Canadian law, all provinces are equal when it comes to citizenship.

But what about when applying to your SIN card and Health card...if you are already out of Quebec, can you do this from another province, without getting in trouble?

Thanks Patty, By the way how much time is required for various administrative formalities (including SIN card and health card) after landing? Would it be possible to move once I get these cards?
