| Subject: Has my landed immigrant status expired? |

Hi
I entered Canada in 1989 as a landed immigrant with my family. However I returned to Ireland to study and work and have since remained there. My parents & siblings are all now Cannadian citizens living in Canada. I now want to move there with my partner and children but what is my position - do I have to start the application from scratch and how long should I expect to wait?

Looks like you already lost your status and have to start all mover again (based on what you told).
Rule is:
1. If you can maintain your Canada staying 2 out of every 5 years.
OR
2. Stay outside of Canada for indefinite time with your spouse who is a Canadian Citizen.
If you are not within either of this 2, then already lost the Permanant resident status.
