Subject: family sponsoring
  dear sir,
i am a temporary work permit holder i work here in hamilton ontario .
me and my fiancee we are planing to get married.
Do i need her to sponsor me to get permanent residence even if i do have a job with a quite good salary that is enough to support me?.
i mean can i just apply under family class but without having my wife giving financial prouve that she can support as i have a job and i can support myself.
my other question is can i as the pricipal applicant be a co-signer with my wife who is the sponsor.
i know that i can apply as a federal worker class but i was told that the family sponsorship is faster.
thank you very much for your help.
George

you have 3 options.

1) apply as a skilled worker through Buffalo on your own merits and it would not involve your fiance at all. This takes about 2 year but given that you are in Canada on a work permit - who cares.

you may wish to investigate applying through your country of origin. In some cases, an application with a job offer is quite quick (eg. France) and would prove faster than going through Buffalo.

2) marry your fiancee, and she begins the sponsorship process (assuming she is a PR or Canadian citizen) she is not required to prove income but she is responsible for you for 3 years after you land should you require government assistance.

If you go this route I would encourage an outland application as they are faster - 1 year - 18 months depending on your country of origin.

3) find out if you qualify for the provincial nominee program

Thank you Sharon
If i wanna apply under family class, do i still need my wife to sponsor me or i can just give prouve that i am already working and i can support myself .
i am choosing this class cause i know that it is faster (3-11 months) according to the website of CIC
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/international/05-fc-spouses.asp
rather than (16-24 months )in skilled worker class.
Thanks again

family class always considers the Canadian taking responsibility for the acceptance of the potential immigrant. there is no option to arrive on your own under family class.

You could also apply under the Ontario PNP pilot program if your occupation is listed on their site and your current employer is willing to assist you.

Family Class is normally faster and designed to be faster as long as you apply outside of Canada and prove your relationship well.

If she marries you her Income is not an issue as long as she is not receiving welfare or is an undischarged bankruptcy. I actually have one client with zero income on his Notice of assessment and was approved to sponsor his spouse.

You have to prove your relationship well! They will look at the economic situation of your partner, how you met why anyone would think this relationship is real, religious issues, age issues etc. etc. Mostly to see if one is using the other for what ever reason.

Gone are the days of which side of the bed do you sleep on or whether there are curtain or blinds on the window.

Good Luck in what ever you choose.
