Subject: threats from spouse
i am married to a canadian man for 2.5 years now.
often he threatens me if i dont do as he says,
he says he is going to withdraw his sponsorship and immigration will deport me.
or else he says, he is going to call immigration, and tell them our marriage is a sham, and they will deport me.
i have PR status, but these threats frighten me.
can he have me deported by calling immigration at any time, if he wants to.
i am beginning to feel like a slave.

once you are landed and have your PR he has no ability to either withdraw his sponsorship or force your deportation. He is in a support agreement with the goverment of Canada for 3 years from your date of landing and he can jump up and down and spit nickels, divorce you or whatever and that agreement will remain binding.

If he is threatening you, get out! go to a shelter. There is no reason for you to live in fear or be subjected to abuse.

Please take care of yourself.

Better yet dial the phone 911 the next time he threatens you! You do not have to take this. Tell a friend you trust that promises to keep it secret from him. SEEK PROFESSIONAL HELP!

He is only your sponsor for three years not the ten it used to be. You could tell him the next time he threatens you, you will run away and get welfare and the government will come after his wages to cover your welfare expenses, that should cause a war. NEVER THREATEN HIM!

Never threaten him especially when your alone!

Let us know what city your in and we will get you a phone number to contact a person. If your in Toronto you can call 911 and they will automatically get you an interpreter.

I hope the best will come of this situation.

Radhika,

Relax. He can´t do anything regarding your PR status.

The situation is kind a opposite, believe me! As Roy explained. He is supposed to your sponsor.

you have 100% support and protection from the police and the government of Canada.

I am serious, I would not even wait for ´the next time´. If he has threatened you once, he will threaten you again.

Like Sharon said, you should just leave NOW. There is no need to wait for a repeat occurrence considering he consistently does this. It´s not like he did it one time or something.
