dear american refuse...you start to hurt my feelings. you always say Canada is a cold and terrible place! I live in Vancouver and we are not cold at all. If we have 1 day of snow we are all shocked. Yes, most of Canada is under snow today but only for a few weeks. In Vancouver today people went golfing. The cold is a good attribute of Canada. It makes our hearts warmer!

Thank you Sharon. I am not being hypercritical of Canadian climate. For people from Asia, it should definitely feel like an icebox. I was being humerous and relative when I use the word cold. I am heading there, hopefully, myself. But I lived in tropics for many years and also in Moscow for many years. And then there are those hoards of Canucks who camp out in Florida for the long haul... they are all escaping cold, at least the impression they give to us. I am a man of no-land but destined to reach Canada soon and probably settle in BC.

back at you (in reply to: to american refuse- with a smile)
I know you were mocking our climate and was hoping you would take my poke back in the same way. You should work for National Geographic! If you can outlive a Moscow winter, you can survive in Canada. Today is a fun day to live in Vancouver. Everywhere else is drowning in snow. In Vancouver, the gardener came to cut my mother´s lawn. Gloat, gloat, gloat. Maybe we should let everyone keep thinking we get around in dog sled and snow shoes.

your postings make Canada sound like a desolate, declining, society that has its infrastructure falling down around it! Please excuse me if I am feeling a little defensive. What would be your comparison? People continue to invest and make good profits here. People buy homes, travel, enjoy their life. We may not have the same kind of entrepreneurial climate that is present in the US, but we have elected to embrace a slightly different focus to our society. Our arts community is thriving, we are at peace with the world... not sure why you are giving us such a bad review.

You talk about infrastructure... where are you looking? I have been to several big US cities this past year. I was shocked to see the conditions of public sidewalks, parks, schools etc. Washington DC is falling down. Vancouver was just voted one of the most livable cities in the world. Not sure what you are looking at.

cheers
Sharon (the slightly defensive Canuck)
