Roy,
Could you explain your comment a bit more... I am interested to know about how CIC knows about certain countries with ´issues´ with regards to providing a police report...
We need one from Syria but because my husband did not serve the military, the government there refuses to give us one, or even a letter explaining why we can´t get one... now we have to pay $5000 to solve this issue and be able to get a police report... the money is a fine that citizens 42 yrs and older can pay to wave the military service from their record... then we can get a police report... It really sucks to have to pay that much money!

For Syria try the Local Consulate or Syrian Embassy in the country were you reside.

Yes, we already did... there is no use! It is unbelievable the lack of common sense among those people... it is so frustating you can´t imagine... I even just tried to ask them to please put their answer on writing explaining why they can´t get us a police report so I could explain myself to CIC... but they laughed on our faces...We even tried to get a police report in person 5 years ago when we visited Syrian with no avail... basically to them it´s like my husband or anyone who did not serve the military is a criminal and this shows on their records... we can´t not even visit the country without a special permit to do so! Until recent years my husband couldn´t even get his passport renewed!
This is a big part of why we are trying to go to Canada... we desperatly need a new nationality for my husband... I would never want to live in Syria let along let my children live there...
Thank you for you answer... I guess the only way to get rid of this problem is to pay the fine! thanks God at least we have that option now... we didn´t have it before... this is a new regulation!

I ALLSO HAD PROBLEMS WITH THIS FORM HERE IN WALES UK THE LOCAL POLICE DONT FEEL THAT THEY HAVE ANY OBLIGATION TO COMPLETE THE FORM
