Subject: What information are disclosed by CADbanks to CIC? |

When I renewed my (Canada) study permit, I went to my bank and asked for a confirmation letter stating my bank account balance. I wasn´t sure if Citizenship & Immigration Canada (CIC) accepted just the ordinary bank statements which was why I asked for the confirmation letter.
Anyway, the bank employee asked to whom the letter should be addressed and I replied, "the CIC..." at which point she wondered why CIC would need to know someone´s bank balance. I had to explain that CIC needs proof that I can support myself financially while here.
Which brings me to what I´m curious about. I know that when I first applied for a visa/study permit, when I was in my home country, that CIC actually calls the bank. What information do they ask for? I´ve tried to stick to the same bank account (even though I´ve found others with lower fees) because I´ve heard from others that CIC doesn´t like it when you use newly opened accounts. So that tells me that CIC asks for when the applicant opened the account. Do they ask for an applicant´s transaction history and the current balance?
I think I´m getting muddled up. I have pending fed skilled worker immig application which is probably why I´m mixing up fund requirements for non-immig and immig applications.

What information are disclosed by CADbanks to CIC? (in reply to: What information are disclosed by CADbanks to CIC?) Ciao, As far as I know no organizations have any right to ask you account transactions unless you commited a crime. In Asia, CIC can call to the bank but in Europe or America they can´t. That´s the reason why they ask a paper from you.Anyway, where are you from?
