Subject: common law partnership, pls help?
I am a teacher, willing to immigrate to Canada through skilled worker program. I have been together with my girlfriend since one year now, but we started to have common address registered with tax authority from December 1, 2007. I wrote on my application the above date entered into common-law partnership and ticked that she is not going to follow me to Canada being worried that we should have one year partnership history to meet minimum criteria to apply having in mind that it would take several years to get resident permit and have one year partnership official proof much before actual immigration takes place. Please, advise me if I have done the right thing? Is it possible to change my marital status in the process of my application and state that my girlfriend WILL accompany me to Canada?
Thanks for help in advance.

Oliver

do not try and double think CIC. If you are in a commonlaw relationship, say so. it is much more frustrating to add her on later and if you land and try to sponsor her later and they discover that you had been living together at the time of your landing - well, that is misrepresentation and she would forfeit her chance entirely.

Roy may have another thought but simply play it straight up.
