Subject: Panicking ... needs some logical thoughts

I came to know this week that my job in US will be over in August 2008 (no renewal, came as a surprise to me). that is LESS THAN SIX MONTHS from now.

I am still waiting for PPR and my medicals expire also in Aug 2008.

These are my questions. If the worst comes to the worst:

1) Let´s say I have to re-do medicals, does it have to be with the same DMP ??? legally I won´t be able to stay in the US, what should I do ?

2) If I move back to my home country while waiting, what happens to my application ? If I inform them about a change of address to another country, will it delay more the process ?? will they transfer my file (to a visa office much slower!!!)

The torture of waiting have increased now that I have 6 months left in USA, I am getting so worried about this.

I am trying to find a way to stay longer in USA so that I don´t have to change country while waiting for ppr, any experience in that ???

I pray hard that my PPR will come soon, which it should before August, but what if it doesn´t .... I need a back up plan.

Thanks for your comments.

CBV,

I understand your worries. I´m now a bit surprized that still you are waiting.

Anyway, my case was kind a reverse.

While my process was going I came into US in F-1. Then got the mdecial request back home. I requested Singpaore to allow me to do than in the US. Then they send me local addressess of CIC approved phycians for the mdecial. So, I think the reverese is also possible as well.

So, your 2nd question probably also covers under the same unbrella as you are just waiting for medicals like me.

My case was long back though, I hope the rules stay the same.

1. You can do your medical examination with other DMPs.
2. If you move back to home country, keep a mailing address in US.

CBV, deep breath.

I am sure it is going to come soon. I can feel it.

I don´t think it matters about the DMP. Sorry to hear you have this added stress with your job ending in August. I don´t imagine you are alone and the US economy slows down.

Are you on H1B visa ?
Can you get it transferred or apply a new one or any other type of visa ? Then you can be in the USA till you have finished the Canadian immigration process.
I don´t know what is your home country, but usually transferring your file will delay the process.
Samm´s idea seems good, but I am not sure if you need to enter the USA again before proceeding to Canada assuming that someone in usa can send you your docs to your home country in your absence.

CBV,

If I´m correct, don´t you hold a PP that doesn´t require US visa to enter there? If so then probably no need to worry too much.

File transfer tacke time, though I think (like my case) if only medical is left then file transfer probably won´t be needed.

Do not go for file transfer as it will add atleast few months to the processing times. If you have to move out of US before your immigration is finalized, keep a mailing address in US. A lot of people do this, infact there are few people who did not even keep a US mailing address and still their files were processed.

thanks very much for a quick response to you all.

It is always good to hear about other´s people opinion.

DC, yes I don´t need a visa to stay as a tourist but my spouse does, it is so complicated. I hate all these visas issues that keep people separated if things go wrong.

Sharon

your feeling may be just right, today my ecas status changed to "medicals received", people say it is a good sign as the PPR usually follows quickly.

Don´t know if it is true but somehow for the first time I do have some hope that this ppr is on its way now.

Raj

cannot apply for a new H1-b I need a job for that and I won´t get one for multiple reasons.

Samm

Thanks for your suggestions. I agree with you.

CBV333,
I am sure it is soooo stressful to have to wait and count the days... but, you see... your ecas status has changed! HURRAY! so hang on tight and keep your faith...
I am sure CIC is aware of your medicals expiring in few months so most likely you will get an answer before then...
Good Luck... I´ll pray for you and your family

Another thing CBV (worked with me atleast) .... try to send them an extremely polite e-mail asking for the status of your application (Note: Do not flood their inbox, just one e-mail for now) and I was amazed how quickly they replied to it (just 2-3 days turnaround) and also I did observe that things moved a bit faster after that. The reason I was sending the e-mails is because I wanted to add my daughter to the application after I received the PPR, but I don´t think it should matter.

Understand that when the stress level increases some people flip. Or consider your in a foot race and ahead, you can see the finish line and something goes a little wrong. Instead on focusing on the race you start to think what if.... and then trip and fall flat on your face.

Your fine from previous posts expect an approval letter today or this week and THINK POSITIVE!
