In general; you DO NOT need any income to sponsor your spouse alone.

However, if you are in Quebec then you need to have some income. If that is the case then go to page 31 to see the income requirements:

If Quebec residents want to sponsor a member of the family class OTHER THAN their spouse, common-law or
conjugal partner or their dependent children who have no children of their own, they and their co-signer, if
applicable, will have to prove to the MICC that they have sufficient income over the 12 months preceding
the application to provide for the basic requirements.

Good luck!

i´ve already applied a sposorship for my wife, but as a new immigrant (few months) i did not have my tax reply from canada revenue agency, so i did not include the option c paper, but i included letter explainning the current situation. the second issue is that i did not include a letter from my employer because i did not join the company at that time, instead i sent with the application a copy of my job offer and job contract stating the starting date and income. 26 days later i recieved a letter from the immigration telling me that the first stage(in-canada porcessing) has been approoved and the application is being transfered to the canadian embassy in our corresponding country (syria). my question is: do i still need to obtain the option c prinout and the employer letter and prepare them and send them to my wife in case she is asked to present them when they call her for the interview.

Talal,

I would sugegst not to do that unless you/she is specifically asked. It may takes few months. If you send now then at that time they won´t accept that as, they´ll ask again for the most recent ones meaning time loss.

In my case, my income was very low at that time, my wife was asked to explain how her sponsor is planning to take care herself with that small income. She just wrote e generalized para, like..I´ve good family income...good balance that I would transfer into Canada...

well, i´m not planning to sned them to the immigration, my idea was to send them to my wife and let her keep them ready with her so she present them if she is asked for them emediately without the need to loose more time trying to obtain the documents

If you send now and they ask for that after 6 months then she can submit that. Then after the´ll ask her again to resubmit using the most recent ones, specially your job letter. Meaning, 2 submitals and wasting time.

l was told 4 yrs ago my a lawyer you can sponser with no income, unemployed now..but my forst sponsership staterd gross income, the new one today, states net income, self employed my groos is better my net on paper, l really dont know what to do, there used to be a list somewhere of amounts needed for certain areas..cant find that, but l have been told thats not a big issue anymore, but you cant get the same answer from immigration about anything, ther is ceratinly something wrong with this system, too much power over people, makeing decisions on thier own not the law, everyone has the right to be with thier family, regardless of any income questions.
l really am stumped here when you cant get the same answer twice..

Hello folks,

well I thought I would try to clear this up a tad bit.

I am currently going through the entire process of sponsoring my wife from China and am currently passed the Sponsorship section and awaiting finalization in beijing.

There is NO need to prove financial income as long as you are not living in Quebec. Anywhere else in Canada you can Sponsor your wife with any income amount.

You should fill in the income amount and if possible provide the requested documenttion or a letter of reason for not having it, but you (the sponsor) can not be refused for lack of income.

Hope it helps

William

sponsor (in reply to: Minimum Income for Spouse Sponsership)
Hi

I am a full time student ,and I am depending on OSAP for my living expenses.I would like to sponsor my wife even though I am unemployed and dont have any job and my net income is gonna be around 12 K for one year..will that be a problem?..all I am planning to do is give them my OSAP funding summary, and my monthly estimated expenditure for one year, is that ok to be an example of "enough " documentation for the "sponsorship evaluation" part...

Thank you in advance..
