My brother and his wife in Bangladesh received their papers to do Medicals yesterday. The problem is that his wife gave birth to a son on the 12th December 2007.
Can you advise if the son can also do medicals with them.
They already have a passport for the baby. Can they now include the son on an amended application.
They do not want to travel to Canada without their baby as he is just 2 months old.
What should they do? How long will it take if they make an amendment?

they should inform CIC right away and fill in the appropriate form. I am not sure if the infant needs a medical or not, but I am sure someone else will tell us. If the child is required to do the medical, I would do it right away so there is no additional delay.

Hopefully there would be very little delay.

Hi Tom,
I went thru´ a similar situation.
Inform CIC about it, and they will send you a medical form to include the baby. I had to do a medical for my daughter, but it was more of a formality, the doctor barely touched my daughter.
Anyway, hope that helps.

Hi PT, I have 3,5 years old child and when done our medical test (19 Nov 2007) ; he did not need to do any test. Doctor just see he is ok. Of course, I live in Finland and I had the child medical book( it´s obligatory for every child in Finland).

PT,

I don´t have direct experience about similar cases; though seems like Raj gave you a very close picture.

Most of the cases that I hear a new born arrives before the medical request.

You may talk with Balwant also, though I don´t think there is anything to worry about. 1st thing they should do is to inform the consulate (Singapore?) ASAP.

DC,

I just send an email to Balwant in Guyana and he said, that my brother should inform the embassy immediately.
He said my brother has to fill up a new Application for Permanent Residence form and an Additional Family Information form to include the child.
Pay CDN$150 as processing fee to the Embassy.
However, he said we cannot do medicals for the child, any medical to be done has to be sanctioned by the embassy first with their form, with a photo of the child attached to it.
The embassy will inform us as to the medicals to be done for the child.
He said this will take about 4 weeks to complete.

It is a good timing that you are not completely done with your PR process and you can still include the child in the application. Yes you need to get the new medical forms, I guess a passport and birth certificate. They won´t do much for medicals for the newborn thought forms have to be completed.

It will delay the process naturally but not much i would expect.

Good luck!
