Subject: How to leverage good credit from US
I have a pretty good credit history in the US. I am immigrating to Canada.
I have never live in Canada before. Will they consider my good credit history when I am doing a home loan here?
How can I leverage my good credit there? Do I need to provide any proof or they can find out themselves?

Thanks.

ask your financial lenders to write you a reference letter. I am sure there is some sharing of credit information, but the more you have in your actual hands, the less you have to rely on institutional cooperation.

Your US credit report can be used for a mortgage in Canada. Also, with some mortgage companies and banks, there are special programs for newly laded immigrants.

Your AMEX and some master/Via cards, such as Citi Bank are transferrable. You will want that option as charging on American cards would result in an exchange fee of at least 3% being levied on your account.

In mome cities in US such as Orlando where we live there is the RBC. We plan to open an account there to get going.

You can begin the mortgage search immediately as we have done establishing a relationship with a lender prior to landing.

Good luck to you.
