Subject: marrying an american
  Hi

I am (Canadian) currently dating an American and are talking about living over there. We have discussed getting married and living in the US after. Can you tell me what steps I have to take to get this done. My Grandmother was an American Citizen and my father received his American CitizenShip a few years ago. Will this make the process any easier and will it save us anytime?

Thanks

If you are planning on living in the U.S it will be a long hard process. The best way to do it is get a "fiance visa".It is processed a lot faster and a lot less expensive.I am from the u.s and after doing some research we both desided it would be alot easier if i moved to Canada. If you really want to move to the U.S just make sure you have alot of money and alot of patience. It can take years to get everything done.By doing a "fiance visa" it cuts the processing time in half.Hope that helps. Good Luck!!!!

I think marrying your fiancee will automatically entitle you for a Green Card. US Immigration website has all the answer to your queries.

try this site: http://uscis.gov/graphics/citizenship/index.htm

Hi,

I´m an American citizen, married to a Canadian citizen. While I decided to immigrate to Canada, rather then have him immigrate to the U.S I have looked into what needs to be done - just in case we ever decide to move to the U.S.

My best advice is to check out this site:

http://uscis.gov/graphics/howdoi/spouselive.htm

It has a lot of good info on what you will need to do in order to immigrate to the U.S after you´re married. And it tells you how you´d go about moving to the U.S while everything is being processed.

Hope that site helps.
