Subject: Extending my work visa.
  Hello.

Please help.

I am a contractor at one of the big 5 banks. I am on a 1 year temporary working visa at the moment. I got the job through an agency so I can not ask the bank for sponsorship. I have spoken to the HRDSC about what I need to do and they told me that I to get a LMO from the recruitment agency. However, the agency have said that we have a business-to-business relationship rather than a business-to-employee relationship. Does anyone have any experience of this, or suggestions?

I would really like to get an extension to my visa, as I am going to apply for PR. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Should I apply for PR while I am in Canada?

Many thanks,
Sinead.

In August the Canadian Experience Class will be coming out if your work permit is valid until then. The procedures are still unknown.

Why not apply for other positions and if the Bank that has already advertises is interested in you it takes little to apply for a LMO.

You have lots of options open your field of vision.

hi Roy, thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately, my work visa expires at the end of next week, so i will not be able to wait until the new ´experience class´ comes into place. Also my bank is actually laying off permanent staff.

If my agency does not submit the LMO, can I do this myself? As a self employed person, with some form of cover letter?

Are there any other options in these short timescales. I beleive I have to have the application for the work permit submitted before my current visa expires, in which case I will have implied status while a decision is being made.

Thanks

hi, I was also wondering how to best answer the quesion on the temp work permit form asking why i want to stay. My contract runs until then end of July so naturally I want stay to complete this, which I will state. Should i also say that I want to apply for PR as well or should I not mention this?

Am I able to apply for PR inside of Canada?

thanks
